Existing Market

Customer 2: Female, Caucasian, 20
Customer 3: Female, Vietnamese-American, 22
After asking my customers about my venture concept, they
gave me important advice relating to two things.
1.
How will the app be consumer-friendly from a
social media viewpoint?
2.
How will moderation be used in order to ensure
it stays “fitness-based”?
I addressed these two points as they are fields in which I
have not truly addressed or given thought. In order to facilitate these points,
I came up with ideas on how to fix them. I will need to come up with a list of features
from more interviews that people find the most attractive to use when utilizing
social media. These can include signature features from certain applications
that can be mimicked and improved or common features that are deemed essential
by consumers.
In order to address moderation of posts and usage within the
application, I will need to address a second developers programming expertise.
I may also have to provide additional research to understand how moderation of
a mobile application operates and how large of a team is necessary to implement
programs that filter spam, malicious links, scams, etc. This will required
further expert knowledge that I will have to obtain via my resources.
New Market
Opposite Customer 1: Male, Caucasian, 44
Opposite Customer 2: Female, African-American, 38
The new market I addressed is based around local delivery of
convenience foods specifically to those people with disabilities. After
discussing this idea with two people that I personally knew, they gave me
insight that a program like this could be useful albeit not groundbreaking.
Apparently, services already exist either through government programs or
certain applications that are not SPECIFICALLY based around those with
disabilities.
An important note that was given to me would be to market
the service as an overall service rather than a specific one. This dealt
specifically with my 1st opposite customer who dictated that most
people with disabilities do not want to be seen as that disability as a
defining factor of who they are. To target a specific application or service
could be seen as distasteful.
I think you did a good job of identifying an opposing market that often goes unnoticed, especially in the field your product is in. By expanding to a larger audience you'll definitely be more successful in your venture. It's important to look at competitors and customer feedback when thinking of ideas because it allows you to look at where to improve, what to keep the same, and even coming up with new ideas.
ReplyDeleteI think your customers gave you very valuable insight on where to go from here. Keeping your app consumer friendly is a very relative concern for a consumer, and keeping it fitness based is also important so your app stays true to its purpose. With a little extra research and development, you'll be able to tackle these issues in depth, so again, it's great that these concerns were brought to your attention now!
ReplyDeleteFrom your perspective the "what's next" aspect of your business is certainly challenging. I think that expanding the potential market is generally good for business. However, there are exceptions to the rule. App defects that may result in spam will definitely hurt your bottom line. I think that the developer must be a careful investment. The quality of the app is key.
ReplyDeleteYour ideas of ways to extend your existing market are very good. It is smart to research and work to make your app consumer-friendly from a social media viewpoint. Adding a moderator to social posts is a excellent idea. Because some people post rude comments and can also get off topic. I found that my next step is includes doing more research to improve my venture concept.
